How does China see your Navy?

posted Sunday, 1 August 2004

During a documentary on world navel power made to accompany Chinese criticism of the recent US fleet operations performed during ‘Operation Summer Pulse 04’, China managed to accurately portray its prejudices and friendships though its televised commentary on the world’s navies.

America – Raising threat

Though acknowledging that the US navy is larger than the Chinese navy, the announcer concentrated nearly exclusively on ‘Operation Summer Pulse 04’ a ‘Fleet Response’ exercise timed to counter mock invasion exercises being held by Chinese forces and that has been a source of tension between the two countries, no mention was made of the US navy’s key role in the recent Iraq conflict or of the actually substance of ‘Operation Summer Pulse 04’.

Their more advanced than we are and cruising around looking for a war.

Russia – Falling Power

The documentary concentrated on the shrinking of the US navy and the dilapidated state of many of its warships, lingering on the Kirsch disaster and on reports that the former soviet flagship Ivan the Great is in such a poor state that its engines could explode if pressed too hard.

We’re richer than you are, so bite our battleships.

China – Super Power

China portrayed its own navy as being modern and prepared to defend Chinese sovereignty against any military threat, oddly though less attention was devoted to the Chinese navy than to the talking up the British Navy or demolishing the Russia Navy. Also no mention was made of the destruction of a Chinese submarine off the coast of Japan or that it went down with its entire complement during a disastrous military show of force.

We will stand against any threat to our sovereignty, meaning President Chen

Japan – We spit on them

Despite Japan’s navy being the most advanced in Asia and being rated as number 5 in the world, Japanese sailors were depicted only in a 30 second clip showing them gyrating their hips and shouting slogans during a recruiting advertisement, and were not shown performing any kind of military operation.

A shot was also displayed of a Japanese navy poster bearing the slogan GO GO PEACE.

No mention was made that the MSDF is a purely defensive organization with no mandate to operate aggressively or that its substantial anti submarine capabilities are largely used to track Chinese vessels that approach Japan.

They live next door to us but we don't have to be nice to them.

India – Second fiddle

India was mentioned only as a footnote under Japan, and despite recent advances in technology and training that have made the Indian Navy one of the world’s best, it was allowed the same airtime amount of time as shots of Japanese pelvises.

India, err, if we pretend that their not catching up with us maybe they won't know.

Britain - Partner

Britain and China recently conducted joint navy exercises and are enjoying a conflict free relationship at this time, Britain’s Royal Navy, widely regarded as the foundation for the British empire was praised for its part in the Iraq conflict and no mention was made of the constant reduction in funding and manpower inflicted on it.

Tony was nice to us, he doesn't mention democracy very much and hasn't asked for Hong Kong back, we love Tony.

Taiwan – One China

Despite Taiwan having a modern navy and being in the process purchasing advanced submarines and Aegis vessels, no mention was made of Taiwan.

Taiwan doesn't have a navy, that would make it an independant country. It has ships.

This jerk is really a neo-con who thinks he's one of the 'god's chosen few that is if you happen to have the right skin tone, and he's been given the right to criticize all the others just because they are different. May I suggest you study the modern history a bit to get the facts straight. Japan was one of the nations who started WW II by attacking Pearl Harbour which your kind is still commemorating to this very day. All the countries except India that you mentioned had in fact attacked and held onto Chinese territories prior to WW II. If you care to know what atrocities the Japanese commited to your fellow Americans in WW II just ask the survivors of the famous Bataan death march which occurred shortly after the Americans surrender in the Philippines in December of 1941. Just because the U.S. happens to have the most stockpile of nuclear warheads and the most advanced armed forces in the world doesn't mean all other nations in the world have to bow to the U.S. and make way for the 'emperior'. The U.S. has the most debt that you guys can never hope to repay owed to other countries. You and your kind are borrowing over 2 billions a day in the world's financial market in order to finance your decadent American way of life (in which people are hooked on gas guzzling SUV, INDY 500, high performance vehicles etc.) and the so called 'war on terror' of which you guys can never hope to win. You guys went into Iraq just because it has tons of oil underneath the sand, and not because the Iraqis have WMD. It never fails to amaze me that your president can so blatantly lie through his teeth and still sleep at night. Yes, I take my hat off to salute you and your kind for misleading the world and God and sincerely believe that you guys will pay big time when the time comes. Nations need to learn to live in harmony and cooperate with others in order to make this world a better one for our kids who will inherit it from us in the future. Neo-cons need to rethink and retool their 'principles' such that they have a better understanding of a forever changing world. One last comment you guys should kick the VP Dicky boy out of the neo-con circle because his 'abnormal' daughter is pregnant even though she is not 'married' in a tradional sense as according to you guy's 'bible.

I shall excuse your ignorance on the grounds that you had an American education, and remind you that Pearl Harbor didn't happen until several years after WWII had started.

The Rape of Nanking happened 3 years prior to Pearl Harbor, and the Holocaust was already well underway before the first Japanese plan took off.

Correction it was called the phony war right up till Dec. of 1941 when Japanese attacked Pearl Harbour. It was then changed to WW II but not before the American entry into the fray. Same with the Chinese fighting the Japs from 1937 right up till Dec of 1941. Bud.

That's just what your history books say. When discussing other people's history, you should use their definitions, not your own.

Remember, for many people there was no WWI, and the War of Resistance Against Japan is part of WWII.

The fact remains, millions of people were fighting and dieing years before Pearl Harbor. This period included some of the most brutal atrocities (such as Nanking) ever recorded, to dismiss them because they came before you entered the fray is insulting.
