Top Readership: By country

1) United States
2) China
3) Japan
4) Netherlands
5) France

It's only to be expected that American takes the number one spot again. It's a big English speaking country with a large population of web users, China watchers and of Overseas Chinese. ACB also targets American audiences for obvious demographic reasons. The number Two and three spots are also no surprise. ACB target both of these countries, too. four and Five, however, are a bit of a surprise. ACB doesn't target these countries or publish blogs in their languages. The Netherlands is particularly surprising as it's such a small country.

Other old favorites are in there two, including the UK (English speaking, moderate population, interest in China), Hong Kong (for obvious reasons) and Taiwan (Also obvious), and the ever popular "Anonymous Proxy". Interest from Germany has died down now that coverage from Deutsche Welle has died down. Some unexpected entires in the include Afghanistan, Palestine and Iran.

Don't forget that the stats are kind of iffy cuz VPN usage tends to increase non-China counts at the expense of the China tally, e.g. when I'm in Beijing I'm usually going thru a vpn from Minnesota.

Not all that many people have VPN connections, though the same is true for people who use open/private proxies. There's not all that much that anybody can do to allow for either of these that isn't based on estimates and guesswork.

However, it's a safe bet that these stat are at least representative even if they are not 100% accurate. Given that this blog in English and that it targets a US audience quite heavily via US based services, it's a safe bet that it really does get more hits from the US than from the Mainland.

Can you read Chinese? I think if you encourage reader from China post comment in Chinese, you will know your readership from China. Most chinese people ,like me, have to use a proxy to visit your blog.
